Overview

Straightening teeth that are crooked, crowded, or misaligned can elevate the quality of your smile and improve your oral health. While traditional orthodontics is highly effective at correcting these types of bite misalignment, some patients do not find the idea of wearing metal braces appealing. Made Ya Smile in Katy, TX is delighted to provide the alternative of Invisalign® orthodontics to adults and teen patients. This advanced system works through computer-generated clear aligners that incrementally move the teeth until they reach the desired position. Invisalign clear aligners for teeth straightening offer a practically invisible way for adults and teen patients to achieve a beautifully balanced smile in a more discreet way than with metal brackets and wires.

Patients find Invisalign comfortable to wear and convenient to fit into a busy lifestyle. Treatment with these clear aligners for teeth straightening offers both cosmetic and general oral health benefits. Not only is a straight and properly aligned more attractive, but they are also easy to keep clean and are at a reduced, which also helps to minimize the chance of oral disease and decay. Our team is pleased to offer the convenience of Invisalign and Invisalign Teen® to our patients. Invisalign aligners are clear, comfortable, and easy to remove when it is time to eat or clean your teeth. As an effective orthodontic solution for many patients, Invisalign may be used to correct a range of bite misalignments and crowded or crooked teeth as well as close gaps between teeth for an even and beautiful smile. If you or your teenager may need braces, schedule a visit to talk with general dentist Dr. Andrew LeQuang and learn more about the benefits of Invisalign orthodontics.

Invisalign Teen®

Created to meet the unique needs of adolescent patients, Invisalign Teen gives teen patients the chance to achieve a straight smile with as little inconvenience to their lives as possible. At this stage of life, patients are often self-conscious about how they look and may wish to avoid wearing metal braces. Playing sports and playing musical instruments while wearing brackets and wires can also be quite the challenge, along with the increased risk in injury. Invisalign Teen clear aligners are a clear, highly discreet method specifically designed for teens and have blue compliance dots on every tray that indicate whether or not the appliance is being worn as recommended by fading with proper use. In this way, your teen can stay on the best possible path to ensure they achieve the straight, healthy smile they desire from their orthodontic treatment.

Best Candidates

Invisalign technology offers great benefits to patients having a wide range of orthodontic concerns and may be a great alternative to metal braces for some individuals. The system effectively works through a series aligners made of clear, smooth plastic that are customized to each individual. To achieve the best possible results, Invisalign aligners should be kept in the mouth for at least 20 hours each day and only removed right before eating and to brush and floss the teeth. Though these clear aligners are so discreet that most people will not likely realize you are wearing braces, they are still highly effective at treating orthodontic problems such as crooked or overcrowded teeth, spaces in between teeth, protruding or rotated teeth, and crossbite, open bite, and underbite.

Common orthodontic issues may be the result of oral trauma, tooth loss, developmental or genetic concerns, or a thumb-sucking habit as a child. A consultation with Dr. LeQuang can help you or your teen better understand your treatment needs and if Invisalign might be a good option for your smile. Treating orthodontic issues can do more than simply create a beautiful smile, however. Improving the alignment of your teeth and your bite (how teeth fit together) with orthodontics can minimize the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ problems, worn or chipped teeth, and gum recession. Correcting bite misalignment can also enhance your ability to talk, bite, and chew comfortably and may decrease your need for more advanced care in the future.

What To Expect

The best way to learn if the Invisalign system is right for you or your family member is through a personalized orthodontic consultation. During this visit, our team will perform a clinical exam of your mouth and take digital impressions of your upper and lower teeth along with 3D images of your jaw, face, and teeth. We will then use this information to identify your unique treatment needs and plan the best approach by inputting this information into our Invisalign software program. When our Made Ya Smile team has your exact plan in place, our partner Invisalign lab will fabricate your clear aligners and send your custom series to our office. At that time we will have you return so that we can try in your first set of aligners and give you instruction on how to wear, clean, and care for them.

To achieve the best possible results for your new smile, it is very important to follow the proper instructions for use. You should wear each set of aligners as recommended by our team (generally for two weeks) and then change out the set for the next one in your custom Invisalign series. To make it easy to stay on track, each set is numbered. Every 4 – 6 weeks, we will have you visit our office so that we can check your tooth movement and let you know if any adjustments to your treatment plan or target end date should be made. Though the time spent in treatment is different for every patient, most cases of Invisalign and Invisalign Teen take about a year to complete.

Follow-Up

At the end of your orthodontic treatment with Invisalign clear aligners, our team will create a custom retainer that will help hold your teeth in their new positions. Invisalign Vivera® retainers are crafted of the same comfortable and clear material as your aligners. The retention phase of any orthodontic treatment is very important to help maintain the long-term results of your tooth movement. Retainers are generally used until the jaw stabilizes and is able to keep the teeth in place on its own. To enjoy the results of your Invisalign treatment well into the future, we recommend that you follow our team's recommendation for wearing your retainers. Initially, this will be all the time, with the exception of eating and home care. This will help to keep your teeth from coming out of proper alignment or drifting back to their original position in your mouth. It is a good idea to also bring your retainers with you to each of your dental cleaning and exam visits at Made Ya Smile in Katy, TX so that we can make sure they are still fitting your teeth properly and supporting your health.
